Saint Michael is referred to as a saint, but moreover, he is an Archangel, and is the leader of all angels and the army of God. He has four main responsibilities: to combat Satan, to escort the faithful to heaven at the hour of their death, to be a champion of all Christians and the Church, and to call men from their life on Earth to their heavenly judgement. As he is the leader of heaven's armies, he is also the Patron Saint of Police and Our Military Forces. Michael also honors the firefighters, EMTs, and other first responders who are the first to arrive on a scene, and his protection is granted to all of them. Wearing his medal promotes the awareness that emergency responders face difficult situations every day, recognizing the strength they must have.
